Dr. Charles H. Bentlage, Medical Director
Dr. Charles Bentlage joined ACCESS Family Care in August, 2007 as part time Medical Director. Dr. Bentlage served in various capacities retiring from Freeman Health Systems as Chief Medical Officer. He is very active in the community serving on several boards and is committed to providing access to good quality health care for the un-insured and underinsured of southwest Missouri.
Janie Burleson, CNM
Dr. Cheryl Dalton, FNP
Cheryl joined our team in September 2009. She has been a Registered Nurse since 1978 and a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1995. She has a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. She enjoys Diabetes education and chronic illness management. Cheryl and her husband are building a retirement home on Tablerock Lake in Golden Mo. Her hobbies include hiking with her dogs and swimming in the lake.
Dr. Jerry Jumper, Family Practice
Dr. Jumper received his undergraduate education at Arizona State University, Tempe Arizona, and his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, Missouri.
He has been an emergency physician for 16 years prior to becoming a full-time physician provider at the Mary Ann Bradley Clinic in Anderson, Missouri. Before his emergency medicine career he practiced family medicine in Kansas and Missouri.
Dr. Jumper is married to Janie, his wife of 41 years, and lives on a small farm near Seneca, Missouri. When not caring for his patients he tends his Nubian goat herd, spoils his Great Pyrenees and English Bulldog pets and raises a big garden. On many weekends the family can be found on baseball fields and in basketball gyms, supporting their grandson who is, of course, very special.
Becky Mitchell, CNM
Cynthia Perceful, A.R.N.P.
Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner Cynthia Perceful graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1982 and from the University of Central Arkansas in 2002. She has a Masters Degree in Nursing Science and has been certified as a Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner since 1982. She practiced in the great state of Oklahoma for 25 years prior to moving to the great state of Missouri in 2007. Since June, 2009, Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner Perceful has been employed at ACCESS Family Care providing Pediatrics care at the Clinics in Joplin and Anderson, Missouri. She loves her work as evidenced by her pleasant disposition and winning smile. She is married and has three daughters and lives in Neosho Missouri, with her family, which also includes six dogs, six cats, and three horses. Her hobbies include scuba diving, breeding and showing longhaired dachshunds, and most recently equine husbandry.
Dr. Karen Porte, Internal Medicine
Dr. Karen L. Porte joined the ACCESS Family Care team in September of 2009. Dr. Porte was an Honor Graduate and Illinois State Scholar, graduating from the Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood Illinois in 1981. She finished her Internal Medicine Residency in 1984 and Endocrinology fellowship in 1986. Along with practicing Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Dr. Porte also ran a clinic for eating disorders in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the Center for Women's Health in Elmira, New York, which was an initial test site for the Mini-Med Insulin Pump and Glucose Sensor at her private practice in Joplin, Missouri. In 2005, Dr. Porte assisted the Joplin Red Cross as their primary physician treating patients of all ages who were re-located to Joplin from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Dr. Porte has given various lectures and presented research in the United States and abroad. She has four young-adult children, enjoys time with family, friends, and her three Bichon Frise puppy dogs.
Dr. Carolyn Prater, Pediatrics
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Oklahoma in zoology, Dr. Carolyn Prater graduated from Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa in 1986 and went on to do pediatrics training in Columbus, Ohio. She is board certified by the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. She moved to Joplin in 1994 and started a pediatric practice with St. John’s Hospital. She also helped start the pediatric clinic at the Community Clinic and continues to work there. In 2007, she retired from private practice and soon joined the staff at Access Family Care as a collaborating physician
And now she serves part-time in pediatrics at Access Family Care. The mission of providing good quality care to the uninsured and underinsured children of the area is most important to her and she loves her work and the children she cares for.
When not working, she is caring for her family and their farm, as well as a menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, fish and the occasional rabbit.
Tina Reeves RN, MSN, WHCNP
Tina received her associate degree in nursing from Crowder College in Neosho MO. She then received her BSN from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. She graduated in December of 2003 with her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri of Kansas City. She is NCC board certified.
Upon graduation, Tina joined Ozark Tri-County Health Care, now known as ACCESS Family Care. Tina is a long time resident of this area and desires to help the community in health prevention and promotion. She has 4 children so her “extra” time is spent with them. Tina also enjoys playing golf, jogging, working on scrap books and traveling with her family.
She is a member of the American Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and Advanced Practice Nurse Association.
Pamela Whitlock, FNP
Pamela joined the Access Family Care team in February of 2008. She has been a Registered Nurse since 1991. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001 with a Masters Degree from University of Missouri at Kansas City. Pamela has a very strong interest in Women’s Health. Her hobbies include cooking, hiking and spending time at her children’s many sporting events.
