Board Chair
Dr. Al Chapman, after graduating from Anderson High School, obtained an A.A. from Joplin Junior College, a B.A. and M.S. from the University of Missouri (Columbia) and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska (Medical Center). He took a faculty position at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he taught medical students Anatomy/Cell Biology, did biomedical research and trained Ph.D. students the biomedical sciences for some 18 years. He then served in the KUMC administration as Dean of Graduate Studies and Research for some 20 years and later as Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs until his retirement. During that time he founded the 501(c)3 KUMC Research Foundation and served as the President. He and his wife Pat, “retired” to the family farm to run cattle in 1999. He currently serves on the Crowder Board of Trustees.

Board Vice-Chair Mary Ann Bradley- Graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Nursing. Employed as Community Health Nurse IV and Administrator of McDonald County Health Department for 44 years. Began the McDonald County Home Health Agency for 22 years, from 1968 to 1990. On the committee that began the OTCCHC, and served as President for the first two years, and worked very hard to get it started, and found a CEO, then, subsequently served three years as Secretary and one year as Treasurer. Appointed by Governor John Ashcroft as one of six Statewide to serve on the newly formed Emergency Planning Commission, and served for four years. Also belonged to the ANA, MOSNA, and was Chair for the Public Health Committee; Treasurer for the local United Way for eight years; Pineville City Council for 16 years; and many positions in the Pineville Methodist Church. Also FEMA Board and R-1 School District Health Committee as volunteering for community work.

Board Treasurer Jerrie Wise- Attended Arkansas State in Conway, Arkansas majoring in Business Administration/Secretarial Science. Previous Administrative Assistant of Mid-American Business College and previous Administrative Assistant of Draughon's Business College. Previous Director of Jay Truck Driver Training Center; previous Administrative Assistant of New Covenant Academy; and previous Administrator of Newton County Health Department. Current Administrative Assistant of Newton County Health Department. Served, as well as, held numerous offices on a number of professional organizations of which included Missouri Public Health Association, Missouri Human Development Advisory Committee, Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation, and Southwest Missouri Community Alliance.

Board Secretary Peggy Carpenter was educated in the Baxter Springs/Riverton, Kansas school systems. She has 5 grown children and has resided in the Joplin, MO. area for 39 years.

Board Member Chuck Brewster graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with emphasis in Management in 1993. He and his wife (Allisyn) have been married for 10 years and have two sons. Chuck is a member of the Four States Health Professions Consortium, a member of the Missouri Rural Health Association, and currently serves as the Regional Development Coordinator for St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

Board Member Francisco Bustillo is a native to Honduras where he received and education in Industrial Mechanics. While in Honduras Mr. Bustillo assisted in farming communities. For the past 16 years Mr. Bustillo has lived in the United States where he currently is employed with Branco Enterprises.

Board Member Steve W. Graddy graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor in Science with an emphasis in Accounting in 1981. He and his wife (Diane) have been married for 25 years; they have three sons Adam, Zack, and Bryan. They moved to Joplin in 1988 when Mr. Graddy went to work for Freeman Hospital as Controller. He has served in various progressive positions since that time with his latest role being that of Chief Financial Officer for Freeman Health Systems.

Board Member Nathan Honeycutt is a full time preacher and provides counseling services. Mr. Honeycutt demonstrates active participation in the community through numerous service projects. He and his family reside in Barry County.

Board Member Pedro Pantoja is well-known in t he Joplin community for his active involvement in the community and his volunteer work. Mr. Pantoja spent most of his life in international business and currently serves as an international consultant.  He graduated with an agricultural major from the Institute of Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico, he has an Associate Degree in Agronomy from Connors State College, Warner, Oklahoma, a BS in Entomology and a BS in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater. Mr. Pantoja is married with three children. 

Board Member Beth Persons is a Neosho resident. She is active in church volunteer work, 4-H, English Language Learners / Adult Literacy Learner volunteer tutoring, hospice, and Teen Challenge of the 4-States. She is working on completing her teacher education degree. Beth and her husband Greg have four children, Joseph, Caleb, Daniel and Joanna, all of whom are home-schooled.
